David A. Baker is a native of Brevard County and grew up in the county area of Cocoa. He is a graduate of Cocoa High and Brevard Community College. He enlisted into the Army after graduating from high school and retired after twenty years of service in 2005. David A. Baker is also a graduate of Barry University School of Law with a Juris Doctorate. He graduated in the top 15% of his class ranked fourth out of thirty-three graduates. He was a part of Barry’s Trial Team where he became a Championship Team Member traveling nationwide in competitions. He competed in the American Bar Association National Criminal Justice Trial Advocacy Competition in Chicago and was a member of the National Civil Trial Competition Team, which competed in Los Angeles. After completing law school, David A. Baker opened this firm with a commitment to helping the citizens of the Space Coast and providing quality legal services to his clients. Prior to going to law school, David A. Baker graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Master’s in Public Administration and dual majored receiving two Bachelor’s of Arts degrees in Criminal Justice and Public Administration, magna cum laude. While at UCF, he was a member of Pi Alpha Alpha (National Public Administration Honor Society), Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and the National Gold Key Honor Society. He is a past president of the Pi Alpha Alpha Central Florida Chapter.
David A. Baker spent over 15 years serving the community as a law enforcement officer and retired with Cocoa Police Department. He has served as a police officer, SWAT officer, detective investigating major cases including homicides and sex crimes, and a supervisor (Sergeant). In all three positions, he prepared cases for prosecution for the State Attorney’s Office. He has conducted hundreds of interviews with suspects, victims, and witnesses, and he has testified countless times in court. As an officer he has been awarded the Medal of Valor, the Administrative Excellence Award, the Wound Bar, and multiple Unit Citations.
David A. Baker served in the United States Army for ten years and the Florida Army National Guard for ten years. He retired as a First Sergeant. He also served in Afghanistan for one year where he was the senior non-commissioned officer in charge of Force Protection for Combined Forces Command (Kabul) and Kandahar Airfield. Among his awards, he has received the Army Commendation Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year, and Humanitarian Service Medal.
David A. Baker continues to serve his community by giving his time and has served as a board member of the Space Coast Recovery, Inc. which provides treatment services for those suffering from various addictions.
David A. Baker is a member of the Brevard County Bar Association, Florida Bar Association, American Bar Association, and Federal Bar Association. He is also a former member of the Vassar B. Carlton American Inn of Court.
